The orchestral instruments: The clarinets

The clarinet produces a sound that can be soft and stealthily cat-like, but also shrill and intense. And everything in between. In this video you will meet the four clarinet players of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.

The clarinet family is huge! There are tons of different kinds of clarinets, but what we usually start to play as kids is called the B clarinet. The clarinet produces a sound that can be soft and stealthily cat-like, but also shrill and intense. And everything in between. The clarinet is one of the woodwind instruments.

This video is part of a series of playful videos on how the instruments used in a symphony orchestra function and sound. In each film, musicians from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra talk about their instruments and play one or several musical pieces together.

The series about the orchestral instruments is produced with the support of Konserthuset Stockholm's main sponsor SEB.
