Malmlöf-Forssling From Flowings

Drama and strength in a breakthrough piece.

Carin Malmlöf-Forssling’s music is striking and dynamic, with a distinct feel for sound. The dramatic and evocative Flowings for orchestra, which was commissioned by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, became a huge success.

Malmlöf-Forssling studied composition and piano at what is now known as the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm. She also travelled to Paris and studied under the legendary Nadia Boulanger. Her oeuvre includes songs, chamber music, orchestral works and even some electro-acoustic music. She was born in Gävle, but was primarily active in Falun as a piano teacher, in addition to composing.
